Switching to Fundly
Fee math, not a feature list.
Most percentage-cut fundraising platforms take 4–8% of what your school raises. Fundly charges a single flat launch fee — never a percentage. This page is the short version of the case for switching, with the dollar numbers worked out end-to-end.
The comparison below uses a typical 5% platform rate as a reference. That figure is a common industry benchmark, not the published price of any specific competitor. Always check the platform you currently use for your own actual fee.
The $5,000 campaign, three ways
Same amount raised, same Stripe processing cost in the background, three different roster sizes on the Fundly side. The percentage column does not change — it scales with what you raise, not who you are.
| Platform | Platform fee | How the fee is set |
|---|---|---|
| Typical 5% platform | $250.00 | 5% of the $5,000.00 you raise. |
| Fundly — 50-student roster | $100.00 | 50 students × $2 = $100.00. Net savings vs the 5% column: $150.00. |
| Fundly — 100-student roster | $200.00 | 100 students × $2 = $200.00. Net savings vs the 5% column: $50.00. |
| Fundly — 200-student roster | $400.00 | 200 students × $2 = $400.00. Net savings vs the 5% column: -$150.00. |
The percentage cost grows with what you raise
A flat launch fee is set when you launch; it does not change as the campaign succeeds. The percentage model does the opposite — the bigger the fundraiser, the more the platform keeps. Worked below at a 200-student roster.
A 200-student roster on Fundly pays the same launch fee whether the campaign raises $5,000.00 or $15,000.00.
- Fundly launch fee (200 students): $400.00.
- Typical 5% platform on a $15,000.00 campaign: $750.00.
- Difference at this size: $350.00.
Bringing your contacts and roster across
Most of what you have today is portable. The two CSV exports below cover the bulk of a switch.
Supporter contacts
Fundly accepts the contact CSV exported from Mailchimp or Constant Contact — a header row of email and name (or first_name / last_name), one contact per row. Each row becomes a supporter record you can message from a campaign’s outreach tools.
Cleanest path: export from the old platform’s “audience” or “contacts” tab, drop the file into Fundly’s import page, and review the matched rows before sending.
Student roster
Fundly accepts a OneRoster CSV — the standard format used by most K-12 student information systems. The org admin checks a single box at the top of the import to attest that every row represents a student who is 13 or older; Fundly then creates the accounts and sends each one an invitation link in one batch.
If your previous system did not store age, you can filter the roster to confirmed-age-13+ students before exporting. The import will surface any rows it could not parse and let you fix them inline.
What does not move across, and what to do about it
- Donation history.Past donations live in the previous platform and its connected Stripe account. They are part of your financial record either way, but they will not appear in Fundly’s reporting. If your treasurer wants a single view, export a CSV of historical donations from the old platform and import it as offline donations on a Fundly reconciliation campaign — that keeps the totals intact for audit purposes.
- Recurring donations. If your previous platform ran recurring gifts, those subscriptions are tied to its Stripe account. You will need to cancel them on the old platform (refunding if appropriate) and ask recurring donors to re-subscribe on the Fundly campaign if you want to keep them. Fundly will surface any recurring-donor CSV the previous platform exports.
- Custom branding and theme settings. These are platform-specific and have to be re-entered. The good news: it is a one-time setup per organization, not per campaign. Your school’s primary and secondary brand colors and a logo set in Fundly apply to every campaign your org launches.
- Donor accounts on the old platform. Supporter-side logins do not transfer. Importing the contact CSV restores the audience for outreach; the supporter’s next donation will be guest checkout anyway, so a saved login is not required for them to keep giving.
Try it before you commit
Want to run through the flow with a real launch screen and a real Stripe checkout, but without charging yourself? Ask for a sandbox organization and we will set one up that runs through every step — roster, approve, launch, donate — on a $0 sandbox coupon. Then compare the receipt and the dashboard to what you see on the platform you use today.
